Stow Hill

Located in the Stow Hill conservation area, social housing grant was successfully obtained from the Welsh Assembly to refurbish/reconfigure existing flats located above the SHARE Centre in the popular area of Stow Hill.

In order to meet space standards set out in the Assembly’s Development Quality Requirements, 2 of the flats had to be remodelled from 2 bedroom to 1 bedroom with a total mix of 3 x 1B2P flats and 3 x 2B3P flats being eventually achieved.

To ensure compliance with building regulation and conservation area requirements measures such as high levels of insulation and over-hauling of timber-sash windows, ‘bath-stone’ windowsills and traditional coloured render were also incorporated into the design.

The project completed during June 2010 and will be used by Charter Housing and Reach.
