It’s a WRAP for Mariner’s Quay
Seren were recently pleased to hear that Leadbitter, our construction partner at Mariners Quay, had signed up to the Waste and Resource Action Programme (WRAP), a Government backed initiative to halve waste sent to landfill sites by 2012.
Mariner’s Quay has been designed to achieve a Level 5 rating under the Code for Sustainable Homes, reflecting the group’s commitment to delivering sustainable and energy efficient homes. The WRAP Agreement is additional to the requirements of the Code and reinforces our aspiration to produce new homes which minimise the impact on the environment.
In recognition of the commitment, Mariners Quay has been selected by WRAP to be the first development in the UK to display their “Halving Waste to Landfill” logo on site hoardings and a photoshoot is planned to be held early March with representatives from WRAP, Leadbitter, Fairlake and Seren.
A bespoke Site Waste Management Plan has now been implemented at Mariners Quay. To date over 94% of site waste has been diverted from landfill, with approximately 62% reused on site and approximately 32% recycled.
