Ministers meet Mariners Quay trainees

Fairlake and Leadbitter staff were delighted to recently welcome Leighton Andrews Minister for Children, Education & Lifelong Learning and Rosemary Butler, Assembly Member for Newport West to Mariners Quay to learn more about the apprenticeship/trainee opportunities being offered at the development.

A major objective from the outset was to not only build environmentally sustainable homes, which are affordable to live in and to run, but to provide training and employment opportunities that would benefit the local population.

As part of their tour, the Assembly Members were able to meet some of the trainees to hear first-hand about the impact the training has had on their lives.

Three apprentices and nine trainees are employed on the site in roles ranging from Assistant Site Manager to trainee carpenters and plumbers. A range of other work experience opportunities have also been provided
